    Man.

A couple of weeks ago a guitar player I often jam with in Heavy-Metal situations, came up with a really cool Riff and we tried it out etc. It was in 6, and i did the Virgil Donati'ish thing of keeping 4th's on the Hat, or whereever as a referendum, just like what Sting did with Seven Days etc. But have you guys ever tried to let that Pattern take it over! I'm sure you guys have, and I know alot of drummers who does but it gives a Whole new Effect to the Groove. And i keep on imagining what you could do with a tune like "Synchronicity 1". and play a straight quarter note rythm in the chorus. These are just ideas, but I'm excited about em!

I did an experiment with that Guitar Riff, and sounds something like this. Emphasizing the thoughts given to your from above to give you an example if I didn't speak very clear about it. Excuse for a bad Sound on Drums in general, only had 3 mics and a dead Rogers Drum set. Snare is mine though. And some minor F ups.

    Here it is

I'm really anxious about these kind of phrasing, but again they're not Toys, but if a situations pumps up where the rythmic pattern requires a quarter note over the bar-phrasing... Any of you guys have experience with it, or could give me any info on Tunes with ideas like this? I'd love to check more out.

Nice playing. I liked your first drum break a lot -- real Virgil-ish.

I mess around with this effect a lot, and I also like to play with metric modulation while doing this stuff. For me, I'd like to end up making it sound like Vinnie (smooth, "with feel"), but it usually ends up sound more like Virgil (rigid, "robotic"). It's still cool, though.

That was awesome Klemme. I always believe that an experimental setting like this can really help you work on new concepts. The riff was awesome. Real heavy - the way I like it. Keep it up!
